Best Architectural Design:
80 Wilson Street by RP Builders

Best architectural design is awarded to projects we love the aesthetics of, whether it's through interesting window design or exciting use of natural light.

This year’s award for best architectural design goes to 80 Wilson Street!

Explained:
Designed by
Cambie Architectural Design and built by RP Builders, we love the use of tall raking windows that not only look stunning from the outside, but even better on the inside! This project uses our Low E Lightbridge Double Glazing glass to deliver energy performance and comfort while maintaining natural light and clarity throughout the homes.

This development also marks the 20th anniversary of collaboration between RP Builders and UNO, a testament to our commitment to delivering optimised end-to-end solutions and value to our trusted partners.  Check out our latest testimonial with George in the video below:

Best Innovative Solution:
William Earp Place by Designgroup Stapleton Elliot

Best innovative solution goes to the project that experienced one of our biggest “Eureka!” moments, often from working closely with our trusted partners in designing the perfect optimised solution.

This year’s award for best innovative solution goes to William Earp Place!

Explained:
The UNO team worked closely
with Designgroup Stapleton Elliot to re-evaluate the compliance pathway, modelling the specific construction R-value of the product and incorporating it into the overall calculation. The result was a staggering estimated $20,000 - $25,000 worth of savings for the client!

By considering the townhouse design, window and door configurations, glazing make-up, and UNO profile performance, we demonstrated that UNO Non-Thermal Suite + Low-E Lightbridge Double Glazing could achieve full H1 compliance.

Best Technical Design:
Kuranui College by Apollo Projects

Best Technical Design goes hand-in-hand with the most unique design challenge, often acknowledging a mixed use of product to solve multiple challenges optimally.

This year’s award for best technical design goes to Kuranui College!

Explained:

Featuring a unique thermal envelope for the school faculty right next to the gymnasium, our team designed a technical package that not only delivered on our promise of H1 thermal compliance but also in acoustic compliance in accordance with Ministry of Education (MOE) regulations.

To do this, our team worked with Apollo Projects to deliver a supply and install package featuring Low E Performatech Double Glazing for external areas, and acoustic laminated glass for interior windows and doors between the gym & the learning environments.

Altogether, Apollo Projects was able to deliver this project for 30% less than the original cost through a strong focus on design efficiency and deep expertise. Amazing work!

The UNO Award (Staff Pick):
Te Ramanui o Ruapūtahanga Community Centre by Warren & Mahoney

The UNO Award goes to the project that most resonated with our team, whether it’s for its stunning design, its unique challenges, or simply because it had the home field advantage…

This year’s UNO Award by a country mile goes to Te Ramanui o Ruapūtahanga Community Centre!

Explained:
The complex geometric design of the building, with its many angles, 15-degree slopes, two-directional roof pitches, and sloping high-level windows, posed unique challenges in measurement and installation, requiring absolute precision to ensure every element fit seamlessly.

Apart from the unique design challenge, we also love this project for its impressive scale, being one of the biggest facades UNO have delivered this year! It also always helps that our team get to visit this centre at any time, being located at the heart of Hawera.

UNO Windows & Doors was specified by Warren & Mahoney from the early stages of the project, ensuring that the UNO joinery solutions aligned perfectly with the architectural vision.
