Location
Frankton, Queenstown
The client
Design Group Stapleton Elliot & GibbonsCo
The Crest Chalets is a collection of standalone, architecturally designed chalets and cabins located at 52 Hansen Road in Queenstown. Designed by Design Group Stapleton Elliot and being delivered by GibbonsCo, the project reflects a strong focus on high-quality design and performance in a premium alpine environment.
This project continues UNO’s ongoing collaboration with both teams, built across multiple successful developments, delivering consistent and seamless outcomes for multi-residential projects.
Scope
Supporting thermal performance and compliance from early-stage planning
As a project currently in development, early involvement has been critical to ensure the design aligns with performance requirements and compliance pathways.
Key considerations include:
• Supporting H1 construction R-values across all chalet designs
• Providing initial budgeting to align with project feasibility
• Supplying technical files for BC documentation and detailed drawings
• Ensuring thermal performance meets the requirements of compact chalet layouts
Due to the design of the chalets, thermal performance is a key driver in achieving compliance while maintaining the intended architectural outcome.

Solution
Thermal performance driven by early-stage collaboration and precise detailing
UNO is providing an adaptable and efficient end-to-end window and door solution, supporting the project from early design through to future delivery.
Using the UNO Thermal suite, the joinery solution has been carefully considered to support H1 construction R-values while maintaining the clean, modern aesthetic required for the development.
Clear Low E glazing has been specified to enhance thermal efficiency while allowing natural light into each chalet, supporting comfortable interiors in Queenstown’s alpine conditions.
UNO has provided construction R-values, technical files, and detailing support to assist with documentation and ensure the project progresses smoothly through the design and consent stages.
With a total of 587 windows and doors planned, this project highlights the importance of early collaboration in delivering scalable, high-performing solutions for architecturally designed developments.
