Boon & Chris Bell Construction

The Leach Street Development is a new two-storey commercial office building located on a prominent inner-city corner site in New Plymouth. Designed by Boon and delivered alongside Chris Bell Construction, the project transformed a former car sales yard into modern, high-functioning office space.

The project also continues UNO’s relationship with Chris Bell Construction, following our work together on the Cleanline Tasman commercial development in Bell Block.

With two levels of office space above secure ground-level carparking, the architecture uses extensive glazing to establish a strong street presence while maximising natural light throughout the workplace.

Natural light and glazing performance for a commercial facade

A defining feature of the development is its extensive glazing, including double-height glazing that contributes to the building’s strong urban identity while bringing natural light into the office environment.

UNO focused on supplying the commercial aluminium window and door package in accordance with the project shop drawings. The glazing solution needed to balance natural light, tint and thermal performance while helping the project achieve its H1 compliance requirements.

How does UNO help you comply with H1 Requirements?

UNO manufactured 29 aluminium window and door units using the UNO Commercial 150mm Suite, incorporating flushglaze and automatic doors throughout the commercial façade.

Green Tint Low E Lightbridge Glazing was paired with the commercial framing to provide the required combination of solar control, natural light and thermal performance. The green tint contributes to the architectural character of the façade, while the Low-E coating helps the glazing support the building's H1 compliance requirements.

Finished in Ironsand Powdercoat, a key UNO colour, the aluminium joinery complements the building's robust material palette and contemporary commercial architecture.
